Thoroughout the world resources are burned
up in flames and turned into toxic substances. In Norway both green movements and the authorities are striving to save the planet from pollution by working harder with reuse and recycling. In a letter to Aksjon Steng Giftfabrikken (ASG) the norwegian Minister
Helen Bjornoy states that emission of dioxin in Norway in the period 1995-2003 has been reduced with 56% and in this period the emissions to air has been reduced with 80%.
ASG finds however that science on measuring emissions of dioxin to air from incineration is NOT reliable. And as long as dioxin is potentially highly toxic AND bio-accumulate, all emmissions must come down to zero. This is also reflected in the POPs-treaty,
the Stockholm-convention.
In Norway the Ministry of Environment,
the State Pollution Authority and
the Parliament all acknowledge and has made plans and decisions to elimnate POPs and other toxic substances. In the letter to ASG Minister Bjornoy states that they are aming at year 2020 to end all emissions of dioxin.
THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
The city of Oslo has
two waste incinerators, Klemetsrud and Brobekk. In the recent wasteplan for Oslo one sentence says that: "Oslo does not depend on two incinerators." The reason for this is that the annual amount of waste is 130.000 tonnes and the incineration capacity is 255.000 tonnes. The Brobekk-plant is burning 100.000 tonnes a year.
Therefore we demand, both from the Minister of Environment and the City of Oslo, that Brobekks 40 year old toxic history must come to an end now. The Ministry is responsible for the continuing production of dioxin. They are the Toxic Ministry. Therefore we put this out on our banner:
We are the Toxic Minsitry, we produce dioxin.

RECYCLING YES! INCINERATION NO!

The Minister of Environment, Helen Bjornoy showed up.
Her attitude surprised the activists from ASG. During a small meeting she informed us that new steps will be taken to improve the handling of waste. She was familiar with our work and we welcomed her appreciation for our commitment. All information we handed out was received by the people attending the Ministry.
Minister Bjornoy made us confident that she is working to elimintate all toxic substances. |

Therefore we were happy to present one of our t-shirts to the Minister. Now she can wear it proud saying: Choose Recycling. Say no to incineration!
Please email the norwegian minister and have her Ban incineration. You mail her from your account or to Minister Helen Bjornoy here:
